Visitor centers
The Institute of Geophysics operates several visitor centers throughout the Czech Republic where visitors can learn interesting facts about earthquakes, volcanoes, the structure of the Earth’s interior and the processes that take place there. Visitors can see the instruments we use to monitor the heart of the Earth and learn the principles on which the measurements are based. In some places — in Kašperské Hory and Komorní Hůrka — it is possible to go below ground via old mining works. All expositions and events include an interactive part, so they are also suitable for children or school groups.
